Introduction: Employees of the health services are always exposed to contagious diseases, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and ergonomic hazards because of the nature of their work. This study was conducted to determine the health and protection status of the radiology centers of Bandar Abbas city in 2016.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the study population included 17 governmental and private centers with a radiology department in Bandar Abbas. The data were collected using the ministry of health, treatment, and medical education's standard checklist which consisted of four indicators including facilities and safety, radiation protection, physical space, and health status. The data, after collection, were analyzed uding SPSS and Excel softwares.
Results: The highest score was related the safety and health indicators of Jaame Jam radiology. Regarding the physical space indicator, Shahid Mohammadi Hospital had the highest score and Seyyed Alshohada Hospital had the lowest score and In terms of the safety status, Iran Hospital obtained the highest score. Rergarding the health indicator, the City health center and Jame Jam and Iran radiology had the highest scores. Shariati Hospital radiology department obtained the lowest score, regarding the standard conditions.
Conclusion: Regarding the results, training, periodic workers' examinations, and promotion of the awareness of employees about the risks of their work environment can be helpful in increasing the level of safety and health in radiology centers in Bandar Abbas.
