Abstract: (725 Views)
Introdution: Childbearing is one of the important demographic components and holds significant importance in social issues. Over the past three decades, fertility in Iran has decreased unprecedentedly. Therefore, we aimed to conduct a study to determine the reasons for the willingness and unwillingness of employees at Azad University of Bojnord to have children and their awareness of population aging
Methods: This research cross-sectionally-analytical study included the employees of Azad University of Bojnord in 1402 (2023). The data collection tools were demographic information questionnaires and questionnaires on willingness to have children, unwillingness to have children, and demographic awareness. For data analysis, SPSS 26 software was used, and for data description, statistical indices such as mean, standard deviation, and frequency distribution were employed.
Results: In this study, 31.3% of participants were aged between 18-35, and 68.7% were over 35 years old. 32.7% were employees, and 67.3% were faculty members. Additionally, 53.7% were women. In examining the reasons for the willingness to have children, 41.7% had no desire for childbearing, while 36.5% had a positive inclination. Regarding demographic awareness, a relative awareness was observed among the employees (50.9%).
Conclusion: : The results indicate significant challenges regarding the willingness to have children among employees of Azad University of Bojnord. Given that over 41% of the participants showed no inclination towards childbearing, this matter demands deeper examination of the social, economic, and cultural factors affecting this decision-making. Furthermore, the relative awareness of employees regarding demographic issues, at 50.9%, highlights the need for more educational and promotional programs in this area.
