Introduction:
Community health assessment provides a complete perspective of the community's health status, needs, and capacities. Also, identifying problems, prioritizing needs and designing operational activities to solve problems requires the participation of community members. The aim of this study was to identify and prioritize problems of Davas region in Bushehr city with the direct participation of local people.
Methods:
This study was conducted in the fall of 2023 in Davas region of Bushehr city based on the eight-stage model of North Carolina. The first seven stages include identifying and prioritizing the problems of Davas region and the eighth stage includes designing and presenting operational plans to solve the priority problems of Davas region.
Results:
About 60 problems were identified and classified in this study. The ten prioritized problems of Davas region according to the Hanlon model included the following order: unsanitary disposal of waste and garbage, stray dogs, inundation of roads during rains, unsanitary disposal of sewage, substandard speed bumps, high prevalence of hypertension, overweight and obesity, lack of parks and green areas, improper street lighting and depression.
Conclusion:
This study identified a wide range of social, cultural, economic and health problems. Although the proposed operational plan was specific to the first priority, planning to solve other problems is essential. However, it should be noted that solving all the community problems requires the co-operation and support of all in charge governmental organizations as well as involvement of the community at large.
